The Foundation For the Challenged
The Foundation For the Challenged (FFC) was incorporated in February
2002 by a group of individuals who made a commitment to transform
lives and strengthening communities by making philanthropic
choices that would improve the quality of life for people with
developmental disabilities and advance positive social change.
FFC initially began conducting two activities: grantmaking and purchasing community based homes for people with developmental disabilities to reside in.
In its seven year history, FFC has strived to apply what Jim Collins, author of the book, Good to Great calls “the power of proof.” The success of the housing venture enabled the organization to increase its charitable giving by self funding Fishing Has No Boundaries in 2005, the Community Living Fund program in 2006 and the Challenge Match program in 2008 and 2009. In addition, it has developed a joint business venture with The Arc of Ohio to develop a statewide Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) to decrease the cost of daily living expenditures for Ohio’s 300,000 individuals and families with developmental disabilities that will produce a sustainable source of revenue for both organizations.
